Green tea has been used for generations as a beverage and medicinal aid throughout Asia. Green tea is hailed for its healing powers. It’s also a great source of naturally-derived caffeine! According to a survey released by the United States Department of Agriculture in 2007, the main content of flavonoids in a cup of green tea is higher than that in the same volume of other foods and drinks. Flavonoids are responsible for such health effects as anti-oxidative and anti-carcinogenic functions.*
PRICKLY PEAR:
This member of the cactus family is native to the Western Hemisphere and is revered in Mexican folk medicine for its pulp and juice, which are used to treat maladies, such as wounds and inflammations of the digestive and urinary tracts. For thousands of years, native Mexicans have relied on the Prickly Pear as an important ingredient in beverages.*
GOTU KOLA:
Native to Asia, this plant is often used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional African medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine. Considered a cerebral tonic and a circulatory stimulant, it’s also called by it’s scientific name, Centella Asiatica.
